How will the telephone counselling services help employees?
A major component of the Quittin’ Time program is
the confidential tobacco cessation counselling via
the quit line. This component is managed by one of
our program partners, the BC Lung Association, and
is open 7 days a week 24 hours a day so that callers
can seek help when they need it most.
Callers will have access to professional
counsellors (Program Counsellors) who will create
personalized programs for callers depending on their
needs.
Counsellors will listen, support and provide
reinforcement for callers facing the challenge of a
quit attempt. Please note that when you arrange a
call back time from a Program Counsellor they will
endeavour to call at the scheduled time but it may
be up to 30 minutes after the scheduled time.
If callers are not yet ready, Program Counsellors
will provide information designed to support a
future attempt at change.
When I call the Quittin’ Time program number, what can I expect?
When you make your first call, a representative
will answer the phone and ask if you’d like to set
up an appointment with a Program Counsellor. The
appointment will be made and you will be contacted
at the agreed upon time and number.

What qualifications/experience do the Program Counsellors have?
Program Counsellors are experienced professional
counsellors with specialized smoking cessation
training and ready to support smokers in their quit
attempts.
If I need help, can I call anytime and as often as I need to?
During your quit process, you can call 24/7 and
receive support. These calls are in addition to the
set of pre-determined counsellor-initiated calls
that you will receive as part of ongoing quit
support.
